USER GUIDE

Navigate the Main Menu options using the trackwheel or trackball. You can choose to play a Quick cross or a Crossword puzzle form the Main Menu.

Navigate the Main Menu options using the trackwheel or trackball. You can choose to play the Daily Puzzle (a new puzzle is availalbe every day except on weekend and holidays), or you can choose a puzzle from the 60 day archive. You can also choose High Scores or Instructions from this menu.

Navigate across the screen (UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT) using the track ball, track wheel or arrow keys on your phone.

A highlight box will indicate which empty square you are on. In Quick Cross a set of clues based on the grid are displayed at the top and bottom of the puzzle. In Crossword the clue is displayed at the top of the screen. Highlights indicating Across and Down clues are shown in the respective squares. The aim is to find the answer to the clue and fill the square grid appropriately. Use '0' or 'DEL' to clear the letter you entered.

Puzzle time is given for completing the whole puzzle, the contestant has to complete the puzzle within the given period for complete score. If he fails to complete the puzzle within the given period the scoring is done accordingly. Scores can be submitted to high scores even before completing the entire puzzle through Submit Puzzle option. You can solve the puzzle leisurely by hiding the timer using Hide Timer option. 

When playing the game, you can press the track ball, track wheel or fire key, and get the menu options. You can select the various Hints/Solve options to aid you in solving the puzzles.

Solve Cell help you to find the correct letter for a cell, Solve Word brings you the correct word of the high lighted clue. Solve Puzzle solves the entire puzzle. Show Errors help you to find out the cells with wrong answers. 

Quick Cross Scoring:

10 points for every correct word. 25 bonus points for each 10 seconds you finish early. Lose bonus 25 points for each letter omitted or entered incorrectly. 150 bonus points for a complete and correct solution.

Crossword Scoring:

10 points for every correct word. 25 bonus points for each full minute you finish early. Lose bonus 25 points for each letter omitted or entered incorrectly. 150 bonus points for a complete and correct solution

Key Assignments & Navigation Short Cuts

• Use the arrow keys/track wheel/track ball on your phone to move across the puzzle (UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT).
• Use the letter keys on your phone to enter a letter in the square.
• Press the "0" or "DEL" key to clear a letter from a square.
• Press "*" key to show the ACROSS clue (horizontal) and tab to next clue in the same orientation.
• Press "#" key to show the DOWN clue (Vertical) and tab to next clue in the same orientation.
• If your phone has a track wheel, then you can press the "ALT" key while moving the track wheel to navigate LEFT-RIGHT, while without the "ALT" key, the track wheel navigation is UP-DOWN.

TIPS AND TRICKS

• Select any square in the puzzle to make that square the active letter and highlight its corresponding clue. Press "*" key to show the ACROSS clue (horizontal) and tab to next clue in the same orientation. Press "#" key to show the DOWN clue (Vertical) and tab to next clue in the same orientation. Try to solve the puzzle in quickest time. Only the scores taken before the puzzle time will be credited.
• Each answer and clue have a relationship. The answer and clue are often two expressions of same thing. If the clue is a person's last name, the answer will be the person's last name. If the clue is an abbreviation, the answer will likely be an abbreviation. If the clue is a pair of words separated by 'or', then the answer will be a singular word. If the clue is a pair of words separated by 'and', then the answer will be plural. No significant word in the answer will appear in the clue. Fill in the blank clues require a set of letters to complete the clue. Be mindful of letter spacing and plural endings.
• When playing the game, you can press the SOFT KEY marked Menu and select “Hints/Solve” from the options to get the solution for an individual cell  or a word or solve the entire puzzle.

FAQ

Can I partially solve the puzzle and continue later?
Yes, you can end the game anytime you like, and when you restart the application, it will ask you to “Resume Game”, whereby you can continue from where you left off.

I solved the puzzle but my score did not come up in High Scores. Why?
To make sure your time shows up in High Scores you should not make use of "Solve puzzle" option in the menu. If you use “Solve Puzzle” option, then your score will not be recorded in the High Scores section.

What does the check mark next to the puzzle numbers in the “Archive” screen indicate?
The check mark appears for all puzzles that you have solved yourself, or you have used the “Solve” menu option to see the solution.
