USING THE APPLICATION

Sudoku means "single number" in Japanese. It became popular in Japan in 1986 and attained international popularity in 2005. Sudoku is similar to crosswords and chess. You solve the puzzle with reasoning and logic. Fill in the grid so that every row, column, and 3x3 box contains the digits 1 through 9. That's all there is to it! This version of the Sudoku Puzzle Pack brings you 250 unique puzzles, arranged in 5 different difficulty levels.

Navigating the Menu Options
  • Navigate the Main Menu options using the LEFT and RIGHT (or trackwheel) controls. Choose to play one of 50 games in your current level, set your level from 1 (beginner) to 5 (pro), read Instructions or learn About Sudoku.
  • Confirm your choice by pressing the SOFT KEY for OK – or – exit the application by pressing the right soft key on your handset.
Playing the Game
Fill all empty squares so that the numbers 1 to 9 appear once in each row, column and 3x3 box. Navigate across the screen (UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT) using the arrow keys/trackwheel on your phone.

A highlight box will indicate which empty square you are on. If you would like to temporarily store multiple values in a square, select the square and then press the different number keys. The square will immediately take on multiple values. Use '0' to clear the last value you entered, or use any one of the entered numbers to select that and discard the rest.

Pen and pencil modes help you keep track of entries that you are sure of and entries you are doubtful about. All entries first appear in 'pencil' mode. Typing the number again switches to 'pen' mode. You can type the same number again to switch back once again to 'pencil' mode.

When playing the game, you can press the SOFT KEY marked Menu and select “Hint” from the options to get the solution for an individual square or “Solve” to solve the entire grid.

Key Assignments & Navigation Short Cuts
  • Use the Arrow Keys /trackwheel on your phone to move across the puzzle (UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT).
  • Use the number keys on your phone to enter a number in the square.
  • Press the "0" key to clear a number from a square.
  • Press the * key or # key on your phone to access the left and right SOFT KEY options. The right # key is generally used to navigate back one screen at a time, or to exit the application. The * key is used to access screen menus or invoke options menus.
  • Use the Trackwheel to move in the direction specified by the current orientation. Use 'Orientation' to change the current orientation.

TIPS AND TRICKS

Can I partially solve the puzzle and continue later?
Yes, you can end the game anytime you like, and when you restart the application, it will ask you to “Resume Game”, whereby you can continue from where you left off.

I solved the puzzle but my time did not come up in High Scores. Why?
To make sure your time shows up in High Scores you should not make use of “Hint” or “Solve” menu options. If you use hints or use the “Solve” option, then your time will not be recorded in the High Scores section.

What does the check mark next to the puzzle numbers in the “Pick Puzzle” screen indicate?
The check mark appears for all puzzles that you have solved yourself, or you have used the “Solve” menu option to see the solution.

How many difficulty levels of puzzles are supported in this game?
The game has puzzles of five different difficulty levels, from Level 1, the easiest, to Level 5, the hardest.

The game screen is very dark.
On some blackberry handsets the backlight is turned off by default. You will see a 'light' key on the keypad at the bottom right - press it twice to get a bright backlight.

I get a Network Connection error when I try to recommend the game to a friend using the Tell A Friend option.
