Playing the Game:
EUCHRE:
Euchre is a trick taking 4 player card game, divided into 2
partnerships with an objective of winning 10 points.
The Deal and Making
the Trump:
The game is played with 24 cards- A, K, J, Q, 10, 9 of each
suit. Each player is dealt a hand of 5 cards and the top card of the
remaining 4 cards is placed face up as the trump card. Each player gets a
chance to accept the trump card, starting with the player to the left of
the dealer. If any player accepts
the trump, the trump card moves to the dealer and the dealer discards a
card from the hand cards. If no one accepts the trump then another round of
selection is done where the players are offered to choose trump from any
one of the other suits. The team that accepts the trump card is called the
'Makers' and the opponent team is called the 'Defenders'. The player
calling the trump can choose the option 'Go Alone' and try to win the
tricks without his partner.
The Rank:
The ranks of the cards depend on the trump card and the Jack
plays a special role. The Jack of the trump card suit is the 'Right Bower'
and the other Jack of the same color as the trump suit is the 'Left Bower'.
The ranks of the trump suit cards are as follows in decreasing order- Right
Bower, Left Bower, Ace, King, Queen, 10 and 9. Note that the Left Bower is
always considered to be of the trump suit. For non-trump suit, the Jacks
are not special and cards have their usual ranks.
The Play:
The player seated to the left of the dealer leads the hand and
the other players must follow the suit if possible. If the suit cannot be
followed, any card of the player's choice can be played. The player who
plays the card with the highest rank wins the trick. The trump suit always
has highest rank and if any trump cards are played then the highest trump
card played will win the trick irrespective of the lead suit.
The Score:
If the Makers win 3 or 4 tricks: 1 point, all 5 tricks: 2
points. If the Defenders win 3 or more tricks: 2 points. If the 'Maker'
plays alone and wins all tricks the 'Makers' get 4 points.

CANASTA:
Canasta
is a card game where your objective is to meld cards. The game supports
both 2 player and 4 player modes, and can be played at Beginner,
Intermediate or Master Levels.
The Play:
The game
is played with two standard 52 card decks and four jokers. 11 and 13 Cards
are dealt for four and two players respectively. The player to the left of
the dealer starts the game. Every player draws a card, makes a meld if
possible and discards a card. A meld can be made with three cards of the
same value or with two natural cards and a wild card (Joker and 2s). A meld
of seven cards of the same value is called a PURE canasta. If wild cards
are used it is called a MIXED canasta, but no more than 3 wild cards can be
used. A card will be replaced for every red three card drawn, except the
case when it is drawn from the discard pile. If the meld is made for the
first time, the initial meld requirement has to be met. If any one of the
teams makes the required number of canastas, they can go out thereby ending
the round. The team which scores 5000 points first wins the game.
Settings:
You can
configure the number of players, cards to pick and canastas to go out by
using the OPTIONS.
Key Navigations:
·
The LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys can be used to select
either the stock pile or discard pile to draw cards and also to scroll
through the hand cards.
·
FIRE Key can be used to meld and discard the cards.
·
You can view the melds of your team and the opponent's
team in the meld screen by toggling the '#' key.
·
If your phone has a
track wheel, then you can press the 'ALT' key while moving the track wheel
to navigate LEFT-RIGHT, while without the 'ALT' key, the track wheel

Other options:
You can
sort the cards using SORT option. The last melded card can be taken back by using
UNDO option and UNDO ALL option can be used to take back all the cards melded at that turn.
- In Canasta, on selecting
the wild card to meld, the meld last made will be pointed by an arrow.
The meld to which the wild card has to be melded can now be selected
by scrolling the arrow up and down the melds using UP/DOWN keys. Once
the meld is chosen, the Fire key can be used to meld it.
- In
Euchre, if the trump card is passed by all the players, a second round
of bidding will take place where the suits other than the trump suits
will be displayed. You can use the LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys to select
the suit you desire to trump.

Is there any time limitation to
complete a game?
No. There is no time limit for completing a game since both Euchre and
Canasta are based on achieving 10 and 5000 points respectively.
Can I leave
my game after playing it partially and continue later?
Yes. You can stop playing the game at anytime and continue later by using
the option ‘RESUME GAME’. The game will resume from the state you stopped
earlier.
I am unable to see my opponent’s melds.
Once you enter into the meld screen select ‘#’ key to view the
opponent’s meld table. You can toggle between the meld tables by using the ‘#’
key. On BlackBerry devices you normally have to use the Alt key in order to use the # key - for example, on a BlackBerry Curve, you will press the "Alt + #/Q" keys in order to use #.
How can I take back all the cards I have
melded?
The option UNDO ALL
can be used to take back all the cards you have melded at that particular
turn. You can use UNDO to take back the last melded card.
In Euchre, in the second bidding round I
am unable to select the trump suit. What is the option to select it?
In the second bidding round make sure that the highlight is on the
trump suits rather than the cards. If any one of your hand cards are selected use the UP arrow key so that the Trump
suits are first selected. Now, use the LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys to
navigate through the suits. Highlight the suit you want to trump and select
ACCEPT from the menu options.
The game screen is very dark.
On some blackberry handsets the backlight is turned off by default. You
will see a 'light' key on the keypad at the bottom right - press it twice
to get a bright backlight.
